The founder of SKARBEK University was International School of Commerce Ltd. The company has been established by the Ministry of Foreign Economic Relations in 1991 to educate its representatives operating at the Polish embassies. SKARBEK University was set up in 1995. At present SU educates highly qualified economists, managers and other specialists in finance, marketing, PR, tourism and IT.
Skarbek University was created on the example of best world universities such as Eramsus university Rotterdam, Durham University, Purdue University, The University of Chicago Graduate School of Business. University offers studies on undergraduate and graduate level as well as postgraduate programmes (including executive MBA) and doctoral studies together with Institute of Economic Sciences of Polish Academy of Science. Our students study at five majors: Economics, Management and Accounting, Tourism and Recreation and Information Technology. SU offers studies in two languages: Polish and English. At present there are around 2000 students studying at SU, including almost 200 foreign students from Bangladesh, Belarus, China, the Gambia, Germany, India, Iran, Kenya, Lebanon, Nepal, Nigeria, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Tunisia and Ukraine.
Skarbek University offers studies in English at undergraduate programmes: BBA in Tour Operator and Hotel Management and Bachelor Studies with University of Wolverhampton as well as at graduate programmes: MBA in Financial Management, MBA in Marketing Management and Executive MBA with Tiffin University (Ohio, USA). Graduates of studies provided with University of Wolverhampton and Tiffin University obtain two diplomas.
Our students have wide reliable knowledge and easily find themselves on a demanding labour market in Poland and abroad. They can attend summer schools and exchange programmes thanks to the wide international cooperation. SU has more than 50 partner universities all over the world, in European Union as well as in China, Egypt, India, Korea, Mexico, Morocco, South Africa, Turkey. Various international opportunities, large choice of foreign languages (including oriental ones) make studying at SU to be on international level. Moreover participants of the programme MOBILE STUDENT receive notebooks for free making their studies easier and nicer.
Our Mission is to educate high qualified, desired and well paid labour force easily finding the job on the international market. The University gained its development thanks to its international cooperation and investments into research and science.
Skarbek University bravely accepts new challenge to overtake its competitors. The example can be implementation of the programme MOBILE STUDENT, cooperation with IBM company concerning Faulty of Information Technology and scientific research on artificial intelligence. In October 2007 SU was given grant from Polish Ministry of Science and Higher Education for elaboration and implementation innovative project ‘Cerber’ protecting the juveniles in Internet. This system was based on the newest technology of artificial intelligence elaborated by Fido Intelligence company. The project will be implemented in the years 2007-2008. This is the first this kind project in Poland. Another innovative project is implementation of lingubot Karen. In the past academic year there was also completely changed a programme offer of studies effecting implementation of new specialisations and new teaching methods.
In 2008 SU established two new institutes: Interuniversity Institute of Journalism and Social Sciences in Lublin and Radom and Faculty Outside in Starachowice. SU also has its sister university in Zielona Góra John Paul II Western Graduate School of Business Economics.
